Concord Police Foundation Announces First 5K Memorial Run in Memory of Officer Jason Shuping

CONCORD, NC – The Concord Police Foundation is honored to announce the inaugural Officer Jason Shuping Memorial 5K Run, which will take place on November 16, 2024 at Cabarrus Brewing Company.

This special event is dedicated to the memory of Officer Jason Shuping, a courageous member of the Concord Police Department who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Jason tragically
died during a traffic stop in 2020.

The 5K run will bring the community together to celebrate Jason’s legacy and continue the Foundation’s mission of providing critical support to local law enforcement and their families. A 0K option is also available for those who wish to support the event without participating in the run.

Participants are encouraged to register by October 31 to guarantee their spot and receive an official race t-shirt.

About Agent Jason Shuping:

Officer Jason Shuping was a dedicated public servant who pursued a career in law enforcement to positively impact the lives of others. He joined the Concord Police Department in 2019, where he served with distinction for nearly two years, exemplifying the values ​​of bravery, commitment, and community.

Officer Shuping’s life was cut short on December 16, 2020, during a courageous response to a carjacking incident. In the line of duty, he made the ultimate sacrifice, facing danger head-on.
protect his community.

At the age of 25, Officer Shuping left behind a legacy of courage and compassion. He was known for his genuine kindness, always going above and beyond to help those in need. His memory continues to inspire and remind us of the profound impact one person can have through service to others. His heroism and selflessness will forever be remembered by those who knew him and those whose lives he continues to touch today.

The Concord Police Foundation (CPF) is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to support Concord Police Department employees and their immediate family members; and to supplement department funding for innovative community policing programs, equipment, and technologies that make Concord a safer community in which to live, work, and visit. The CPF Board of Directors is comprised of civic-minded community and business leaders who are passionate about supporting first responders and public safety professionals. Board members volunteer their time and talents to ensure the Foundation is positioned, willing, and able to accomplish its mission.
