Orioles Gave Jackson Holliday Hilarious Gift After Team Clanked Playoff Spot

Normally, when an MLB team clinches a playoff spot, the team celebrates by toasting and drinking champagne in the locker room.

However, when the Baltimore Orioles clinched a playoff spot after their 5-3 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday, second baseman Jackson Holliday was unable to join in the champagne celebration because he is only 20 years old.

The Orioles, however, found a solution so that Holliday could participate with his teammates.

When Holliday arrived in the locker room, the Orioles surprised him with birdbath water, which looked like a bottle of champagne but was labeled “0.0% alcohol for Orioles under 21.”

The team also had a special Holliday corner with a sign that read, “Baby’s First Clinchmas 2024.” Bird Bath Waters sat in an ice bin next to baby bottles. A Holliday baby jersey hung with children’s coloring pages of Orioles logos. It was quite the show.

Holliday will turn 21 in December, so he’ll be eligible to participate in any future champagne celebrations the Orioles may host over the next few seasons.

The Orioles have clinched the American League’s first wild-card spot. The wild-card round begins Tuesday, October 1.
