Hulen Volunteer Fire Department Ready to Host Annual Fire and Chrome Classic Car Show

WALTERS, Okla. (KSWO) – The Hulen Volunteer Fire Department is reaching out to the community as it raises funds to assist in its emergency response mission in Walters.

So this weekend, the department will host its annual Fire and Chrome classic car show.

It will be this Sunday, September 29, in their building on Baseline Road in Walters.

They’ll also be serving tacos and there will be raffles for things like a gun safe, a variety ammo pack, and more.

Officials said fundraising events like these are vital to the department as it works to serve the community.

“We have a lot of fires throughout the county,” said Shannon McCann, with Hulen VFD. “For example, if there’s a fire in one area and we send all of our trucks out there, you know, we have a significant fuel cost that can cost you anywhere from $200 to $500 just to fill all of them up. our trucks. And that takes a big hit. So basically, if you have multiple fires in a month, you look at that, fuel up your trucks, it takes a toll on your budget.

To register your car, it’s $20 per vehicle.

Judging will begin at 11 a.m. and the awards ceremony will begin at 3 p.m.
