Reward offered for tips in homicides at I-29 Speedway

PACIFIC JUNCTION, Iowa (WOWT) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in solving the shooting deaths of two Omaha men last month at the I-29 Speedway.

The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. on August 10, while the venue was hosting a car show and music festival, leaving Marcus L. Johnson, 28, and Charles A. Williams Jr., 27, both dead .

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Omaha police asked Friday for any information that could help them identify the suspects involved in the shooting. Anyone with information leading to an arrest in the double homicide case is eligible for a $25,000 reward from Omaha Crime Stoppers.

According to a report from media partner 6 News, on the night of the shooting, OPD’s ABLE-1 helicopter was called in to help search for at least three suspects, reportedly in a black Mercedes sedan.

The Williams family told 6 News last week they hope someone will come forward to help them understand what happened.

“This could be the smallest piece of information that could help us find out who did this to our child, to our child,” Charles Williams Sr. said.

Tips can be called into OPD at 402-444-5610; or submitted to Omaha Crime Stoppers online or by calling 402-444-STOP (7867). You can create anonymous tips using the P3 Tips app.
