Man convicted in Evansville murder trial

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The jury in the murder trial of Zachary Diaz has returned a guilty verdict on the count of reckless homicide.

Diaz is charged with murder after allegedly shooting Derrick Dye Jr. outside Ponytails Lounge. Officers say they were dispatched to the 1200 block of East Columbia Street in February on reports of shots fired outside the strip club. Officers found Dye Jr. with a single gunshot wound and transported him to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Judgment is scheduled for October 18 at 2 p.m.
