The Bishan void deck fashion show presents timeless style and brings together young and old

The project, which lasted two and a half months, blended the technical experience of senior seamstresses from the Fei Yue Bukit Batok Active Aging Center and the ideas of young designers from the sustainable fashion movements Fashion Parade and Fashion Revolution.

Other pieces featured on the runway included a floral look inspired by the heyday of the Great World theme park and a patchwork ensemble depicting Toa Payoh’s iconic dragon playground.

Gen Gala was the brainchild of Ms. Amanda Soon, Program Manager of Fei Yue Senior Education Department, as part of Crafting Futures: Trading Places, a nine-month project to connect past and future elements of different art forms.

Ms Soon, 36, said she wanted to offer young people’s grassroots projects new forms of collaboration while giving seniors a chance to celebrate their heritage, skills, energy and boundless dedication.
