‘Chucky’ Stars Jennifer Tilly and Devon Sawa React to Series’ Cancellation: ‘Resurrections Are Chucky’s Specialty’

“Chucky never ends!!…He just shows up again.”

The cast and crew of Chucky are mourning the cancellation of the Syfy and USA show – but they’re certain our favorite killer doll will return from the dead.

Jennifer Tilly, who joined the franchise in 1998 Chucky’s Bride and played herself possessed by the naughty doll Tiffany Valentine in the series, confirmed that she had been sidelined on social media on Friday.

“So sad to announce that after three wonderful seasons, the TV series Chucky was finally canceled,” she wrote. “First of all, I’d like to think (sic) of our fans, who managed to keep the hashtag #RenewChucky trending for MONTHS! Without your loyalty and tenacity, Chucky would never have lasted 30 years!”

However, Tilly hinted that Chucky would return in some form in the future. “We’re really proud of our show,” she said. It was a wonderful miracle to work with these talented cast and crew. We were very fortunate to have the leadership of our brilliant captain (creator) Don Mancini. But (to quote Call of Duty) we are “down but not out”. Resurrections are Chucky’s specialty and he’s got a lot of them!

In a separate post, Tilly lamented the unfortunate timing of the cancellation. “We’re twisting the knife a bit to cancel #Chucky so close to Halloween. It’s like canceling Santa at Christmas,” she wrote.

Tilly also posted a photo of her and Mancini looking slightly perplexed as they stare at a phone. “It’s me and Don who discover this Chucky just got canceled,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Devon Sawa, who played five different supporting characters over the show’s three seasons, wrote: “CHUCKY NEVER ENDS!!…He just shows up again.”

The actor continued, “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, this show has been one of the most fun shows I’ve ever had to film. I’m sad, but I can’t wait to see where this is going to take us.

Fiona Dourif, who played another woman possessed by Chucky in the series, also reacted to the news. “This job was a dream, and I’m grateful for every minute. *we take a little red bow*,” she wrote.

Series creator Mancini, who has led the franchise since writing the original 1988 screenplay. Child’s playthanked Chucky-files on social networks. “I have so much love for our incredible fans,” he said. “Your #RenewChucky campaign meant a lot to me during a very difficult time. Chucky said to tell you all, quoting himself: ‘See you soon.’ HE WILL COME BACK.”

Chucky aired for three seasons on Syfy and USA Network, continuing the seven-film franchise with a new story about the murderous doll hunting a group of New Jersey teenagers.
