People Power said it would develop appropriate regulations to prevent harm caused by the operation of algorithms by portal and platform giants.

In a speech at a forum organized by the party’s “Portal Unfair TF”, Han Dong-hoon said: “Experts point out that algorithms are the root of online social media addiction.”

He then pointed out that platform giants build algorithms, called “personalized recommender systems,” to make users more platform dependent and addicted.

Rep. Kim Jang-gyeom, who moderated the debate, stressed that the ideal time should not be missed to correct risks by discussing related legal and institutional improvement measures with experts.
