Accused in Limpopo pig farm murder case return to court on Wednesday

Farm owner Zachariah Olivier and his two employees, Rudolph De Wet and Willian Musora, allegedly killed Maria Makgato and Lucia Ndlovu at Onvervaght Farm in Sebayeng, near Polokwane, in August.

They face charges of murder, attempted murder and perverting the course of justice.

Musora faces an additional immigration charge.

They had previously appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court to apply for bail before the case was transferred to Polokwane by the NPA.

“The DPP has issued a certificate of hearing of the bail application in the Polokwane Regional Court,” said NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.

“The DPP has the right to choose any forum. That is why this matter is being transferred from Mankweng to Polokwane for the purpose of bail hearing and then the matter will be transferred to the High Court.”

State prosecutor Joel Mamabolo also said the accused would be charged with a Schedule 6 offence.

During court proceedings last month, De Wet claimed he was assaulted and tortured by police after his arrest and identified the officers who allegedly attacked him.

His lawyer, Jodi Meyer, told the court they wanted to open criminal proceedings against the officers.
