Keke Palmer told Law Roach he was ‘not the best stylist’ for her

Keke Palmer and Law Roach may have different visions, but it’s “still love” between them.

During Wednesday evening’s panel discussion on his new book, “How to Build a Fashion Icon: Notes on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect,” which is out now, the “Image Architect” self-proclaimed designer recalled the time Palmer once said he was “not the best stylist for (her).”

Even though their previous partnership “didn’t really work out,” the couple came together to collaborate on a look shortly after Palmer became pregnant with her first child.

“I’m like, ‘Oh, let’s show the baby bump,’” Roach, 46, told the room. “I bring all these clothes and I could never find them right. And one time she called me and said, “You may be the best stylist in the world, but you’re not the best stylist for me.” I really loved it.

He said the two men collaborated after Palmer became pregnant with his son.

As the crowd burst into laughter, Palmer, 31, lovingly exclaimed, “Law lives for fun!” »

“I love it, I love it,” Roach admitted. “But she was right because in my mind I had this idea of how I wanted to present her. I wanted her to be proud of her baby bump and show it off.

He continued: “And that was her personal prerogative, she didn’t want to give it to the world yet. So I will always love you.

Palmer revealed she gave birth to her first baby, son Leodis Andrellton Jackson, last February. She shares her baby boy with Darius Jackson.

In July 2023, the “Nope” star opened up about her fashion makeover as she learned to feel comfortable with her postpartum curves.

“After I had my baby, I became much more powerful. I’m so strengthened in a crazy way. I’m strutting, I’m enjoying it,” Palmer said in an interview with The Cut — which was published days after Jackson publicly shamed her for wearing a tight dress to an Usher concert.

“I’ll be honest, I think before I even had the baby I was actually quite embarrassed.”

During Wednesday’s chat, Palmer reflected on the evolution of her personal style, saying she wasn’t sure if it had “changed” with motherhood or if it was “coming back to who I’ve always been.”

“I think it’s one of those things where I was always a pretty serious kid,” she told the crowd. “I was always so ready to go to the office.”

“I think as I got older, I was trying to understand the differences between me and my characters. And I was like, I want to try something different, I want to try something new to see if I’m who I think I am,” she continued.

“And it was fun and enjoyable, but I think I ended up still being the big boss that I always was. I’m ready to run a business, you know what I mean?

“I’m that personality, and so I think it’s a very black Americana, it’s a little traditional. There’s some fun and a few accessories here and there, but that’s all for this fierce slut to take over.
