Dad Makes Son’s Bedtime, Mom Can Only Laugh at What She Finds Later

Dad Makes Son’s Bedtime, Mom Can Only Laugh at What She Finds Later

A Maryland woman shared footage of the scene that greeted her when her partner put their young son to bed.

Shanice Jones said News week she decided to investigate what was going on upstairs after noticing that the father and son were “completely silent” up there. What she discovered during her examination made her hysterical.

Sleep is important for everyone, but it is especially crucial for young children because it improves their overall health and emotional well-being. Parents everywhere know all too well the consequences of a child not getting enough sleep, and chances are most people nearby will too.

This is why bedtime is such an important part of the day. It is crucial that children not only go to bed but also get there at a reasonable time.

A 2012 study published in the Norwegian journal Pediatric Acta found that, paradoxically, children who go to bed later in the day actually take longer to fall asleep than those who go to bed earlier in the night.

Additionally, children also tend to wake up more frequently during the following night. Jones knows the challenges of bedtime all too well, thanks to her 3-year-old son, Noah.

“Bedtime is really hard. It’s a challenge having a toddler, especially since he doesn’t have any siblings; it’s a lot to keep him entertained,” she said. Jones said.

Noah will play many tricks to try to avoid it. “As soon as it’s bedtime, he’s magically thirsty and always wants to play with his toys,” she added.

However, with Dad in charge that night, everything seemed to go smoothly.

“He gave him his nighttime bath, brushed his teeth, put on his pajamas, and they were supposed to watch a little TV and then he would go to sleep,” Jones said.

But as she went about her business downstairs, Jones began to suspect that upstairs, things weren’t going quite as they usually do. “I noticed it was completely silent in the house, so I got up to check on them,” she said.

That’s when she came across the scene featured in the video, which she later shared on TikTok under the handle @shanicejones118. The good news was that Noah was definitely sleeping, but he wasn’t in his own bed.

“When I walked into the room, I noticed Dad was sleeping in our son’s bed and our son was sleeping on his little sleeper sofa,” Jones said.

His partner finally woke up saying that “he was so exhausted and our son didn’t want to lay in his bed, so he laid there instead.”

He went to his own bed shortly after, leaving Jones to relax for the rest of the evening and laugh a little about what she had just stumbled upon. “I was just happy that everyone was finally asleep,” she said.
