The Tampa Bay Times launches its 2024 general election voter guide

Tampa Bay voters have a lot to consider on their ballots this November.

Florida Democrats fielded a candidate in all 140 state legislative elections this year, the first time in decades.

Republicans have also fielded candidates in most of these contests, and certainly in every race in Tampa Bay.

But who are all running? What do they stand for and how might they work for the constituents they hope to serve?

The Tampa Bay Times interviewed local legislative candidates, as well as dozens of candidates running for Congress, county commissions, school boards and more.

The result is this year’s voter guide. You can find it online at tampabay.com/voterguide.

The guide highlights more than 90 candidates in more than 40 races in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties. That includes those running to become Hillsborough state attorney and Pasco’s next superintendent, as well as the closely watched contest for the Pinellas-based congressional district, hosted by Anna Paulina Luna.

Dozens of our journalists worked to put this together. While journalists wrote parts of the guide, you’ll largely see candidates’ responses in their own words. Nearly 90% of them responded to open-ended questions about their priorities and positions on issues important to our community.

Ballots are already in the mail. If you’re filling yours out at home, use our guide as a reference. An interactive feature allows you to create a personalized ballot of your favorite candidates. If you are voting in person, you can take it to your polling place on your phone or print an easy-to-read document.
