LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced a seven-member squad for the upcoming World Six in Hong Kong, with all-rounder Faheem Ashraf leading the team.

The eight-team tournament, after a gap of seven years, will be played from November 1 to 3 at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong.

Since the inception of the tournament in 1993, Pakistan has won the tournament four times, while remaining runners-up in the event on five occasions, including qualifying for the final in the last edition held in 2017.

Defending champions South Africa and England lead with the most titles, each winning five. Sri Lanka, Australia, India and West Indies have each won a title.

Some of the biggest names like Shahid Afridi, Imran Nazir, MS Dhoni, Wasim Akram, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Glenn Maxwell, Sanath Jayasuriya and others have played in the tournament.

“We are delighted to bring back this iconic event which showcases our city as a true global city and East Asian sporting capital to the world and our cricketing credentials. The strategic plan is to develop the Hong Kong Sixes into a global series, culminating each year with the home grand final,” said Burji Shroff, Chairman of Cricket Hong Kong, China.

Former Test wicketkeeper Saleem Yousuf will travel with the team as manager, cricket’s governing body has announced.
