Meet the Candidates events planned in Lorain County

Lorain County voters are invited to two nonpartisan Meet the Candidate events Oct. 9 and 10 at the Lorain County Community College Spitzer Center, 1005 N. Abbe Road in Elyria, according to a news release.

Voters will hear from candidates running for various positions on November 5.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for both events.

Both programs will take place in the Reaser Grand Ballroom from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by an informal social hour, the release said.

These events are free and open to the public.

Candidates for commissioner, sheriff, treasurer and recorder, as well as the uncontested races for coroner and county engineer, were invited to speak on Oct. 9, according to the release.

Judicial candidates for Lorain County Common Pleas Court, its Inner Division, County Attorney and those running for the Ohio State House of Representatives in the 52nd, 53rd and 54th Districts have were invited to speak on October 10.

The candidates will make an opening and closing statement and answer questions prepared by the organizing committee as well as those proposed by the public present, according to the press release.

The League of Women Voters of Lorain County and the Elyria YWCA — Lorain County Racial Equity Center sponsor these events.

Collaborating nonpartisan partner organizations are: Lorain County Community Foundation Hispanic Fund; Elyria Club of Black Business and Professional Women; Lorain County Community College, Lorain NAACP; Lorain County up; Lorain County Urban League; Metro Central Ohio NAACP Unit No. 3183; and VOTES OC from Oberlin College.
