Brian McKnight’s Detroit concert canceled following ‘deadbeat behavior’ controversy

R&B singer Brian McKnight has been under fire lately for being a deadbeat dad, and Detroiters have made it clear they’re not fans, which could influence the cancellation of his upcoming show at Motor City.

The 54-year-old singer is estranged from his older biological children, a situation made even more complicated recently by multiple incidents, such as calling them “products of sin” and changing his name to “Sr.” to his new son and publicly disputing his ex-wife.

Well, people in Detroit can be extremely honest.

Under an April 23 Facebook post announcing that McKnight would be visiting in June to perform at the Sound Board at the MotorCity Casino Hotel, commenters were not welcoming, with most ridiculing the musician, with little interest in actually attending the show.

“He might as well retire,” one commenter said. “Tell him to bring his kids and we can come.”

Another wrote: “It wouldn’t even be free. »

The announcement post is no longer on Facebook, but the hilarious aftermath surrounding McKnight’s “deadbeat behavior” was documented by HuffPost editor Phillip Lewis. People in the comments of Lewis’ post are just continuing the jokes, in addition to making fun of the people who got tickets in the first place.

Ticketmaster confirmed the show’s cancellation on May 3 without explanation, although it is likely related to backlash against the artist.

Anyone who purchased tickets will be automatically refunded within 14 to 21 days.
