Air India Express cancels several flights to the Middle East from Kochi;  travelers protest

Air India Express canceled several flights to Middle Eastern cities from Cochin International Airport on Wednesday morning, triggering protests by hundreds of passengers demanding new tickets or immediate refund to facilitate their travel without wasting time.

Passengers say their jobs could be at risk following flight cancellations, although the airline has not given an official explanation for the situation.

Airport sources said a flash strike by airline workers had led to the situation.

Flights scheduled to land in Kochi from Sharjah, Damam, Muscat and Bahrain on Wednesday have also reportedly been cancelled.

Flights from Kochi that were canceled include those to Sharjah, Muscat and Damam.
