Congressman Cohen Announces $1.2 Million HIV/AIDS Grant to Shelby County Health Department

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) announced today that the Shelby County Health Department will receive a $1,285,200 grant for its Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“The Ryan White Program administered by the Shelby County Health Department has saved lives and continues to improve the health and well-being of those affected. This funding is essential to supporting the thousands of people living with HIV in our community.

The grant program is named for Ryan White, a hemophiliac teenager from Indiana who contracted AIDS from infected blood and died in 1990.
