NEW DELHI: Air India Express has canceled over 80 flights after facing disruptions since last night. A video circulating on social media platform ‘X’ captures a chaotic scene at the Delhi airport.

According to the caption accompanying the video, chaos erupted when Air India Express canceled its flights to Goa, Guwahati and Srinagar at the last minute. The announcement caused confusion and distress among affected travelers, who gathered around the airline counter, visibly upset and demanding explanations.

Passengers were seen crowding outside an Air India Express counter.

The passengers’ frustration was evident as they vocally expressed their displeasure, with some exclaiming, “Ye kya tareeka hai!” Kyu dekh rahe ho aap? Bewakuf bana rakha hai. Paagal bana rakha hai.”

Their comments made it appear as if they had been deceived and treated unfairly by the airline, calling into question how the situation was being handled.

Reactions to the message included

“Flight cancellations without considering passengers’ urgency is a real problem. They should offer other options or inform people earlier so they can make other plans. Canceling at the last moment causes a lot of hassle problems,” one user commented on a viral post.

“Pe kalesh airport,” another user commented.

“It had to be canceled considering the weather. Will there be a problem? There is no need to panic,” another user commented in Hindi.
Flights canceled due to massive sick leave of crew members
Air India Express, however, announced the cancellation of more than 80 international and domestic flights scheduled from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning. The airline’s spokesperson said the cancellations were due to “massive sick leave” taken by senior crew members.

The spokesperson said Wednesday: “While we speak with crew to understand the reasons for these events, our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimize any inconvenience caused to our guests.”

Passengers affected by flight cancellations will be offered a refund or the option to reschedule their trip at no additional cost, according to the Air India Express spokesperson.
