In a fresh attack on Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned why the Congress leader stopped mentioning the ‘Ambani-Adani’ issue in his speeches.

Addressing an election rally in Telangana’s Vemulawada on Wednesday, the Prime Minister suggested that Rahul’s silence on industrialists, whom he had been criticizing for five years, seemed “suspicious”.

“Since the elections were announced, these people (Congress) have stopped abusing Ambani-Adani. I want to request from the soil of Telangana, let the Shehzada announce how much has been withdrawn from Ambani-Adani. A note-laden tempo (motto) reaches Congress? What deal was made that Ambani-Adani abuses stopped overnight,” he asked.

The Prime Minister’s offensive assumes particular importance since the Congress accuses the Modi-led government of favoring big businessmen.

Gandhi often used the names of industrialists to attack the Modi government, which he described as a “ki sarkar in a suit and boot”.

At a rally in Chhattisgarh on April 13, Rahul claimed that Prime Minister Modi had helped only 22 people in India who had the same amount of money, or 70 million people.

The BJP has often dismissed Rahul’s attack, saying it was the Congress that favored industrialists when it was in power.

In April last year, Nationalist Congress Party founder Sharad Pawar, whose party is an ally of the Congress in Maharashtra, said attacking industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani was “not right “.
