Everything the Liverpool dressing room said about replacing Jürgen Klopp with Arne Slot

Arne Slot looks set to become Liverpool’s next manager. With a deal having been agreed with Feyenoord, it is surely only a matter of time before he is announced as Jürgen Klopp’s successor at Anfield.

The man himself practically confirmed the appointment this weekend. Not only that, but his gestures towards Feyenoord fans on Sunday seemed to indicate he was bidding farewell to the club.

Of course, with Slot’s appointment now common knowledge, current members of the Liverpool squad have inevitably been asked about their soon-to-be new boss in recent weeks.

Cody Gakpo is the latest to give his opinion on his fellow Dutchman. Talk to ViaPlaythe striker said: “To be honest, I never worked with him. I know of course that he is a very good coach who showed it at AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord as well.

“Of course we played against (his Feyenoord) several times, they were often difficult matches. I’m very curious and I think we’re all looking forward to it.”

Gakpo’s opinion comes after another member of the Reds’ Dutch contingent had his say on Slot. Also speaking to ViaPlay after the derby defeat to Everton, Virgil van Dijk commented: “I of course find it difficult to answer now. But I think Arne Slot could be one of the best Dutch coaches in this moment.
