A 42-year-old truck driver has been arrested after he was caught in possession of drugs worth R3.54 million in Laingsburg, Western Cape.

The driver was arrested on Thursday during a Rural Flying Squad patrol on the N1.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, during a search of the truck, officers found 10 packets of mandrax hidden in a box and eight boxes of dagga.

“The value of the drugs is estimated at approximately R3.54 million,” Pojie said.

The suspect is due to appear before Laingsburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
