“Tennessee Titans Might Have Trouble Trading Star WR”

“Tennessee Titans Might Have Trouble Trading Star WR”

The Tennessee Titans could consider blowing the situation up until the NFL trade deadline on November 5th, as they are just 1-5 and have shown no signs of turning things around.

DeAndre Hopkins is considered a likely candidate for a move, and Tyler Boyd could also potentially be moved.

But what about Calvin Ridley?

Ridley struggled mightily in his first season since signing a four-year, $92 million contract in free agency with the Titans, leading some to wonder whether Tennessee would consider signing him.

The problem is that the Titans might have a hard time finding a taker.

Sam Phalen of A to Z Sports doesn’t believe Ridley will be traded because he thinks it might be difficult for Tennessee to convince another club to accept his contract.

“I doubt anyone would even express interest given how expensive Ridley is and his propensity for dropping the ball, which has plagued him in recent weeks,” Phalen wrote.

Phalen added that Ridley’s $28 million cap hit for 2025 is fully guaranteed and that he will carry some guarantees through 2026 as well.

Ridley himself was very frustrated, although he seemed to be more upset about his role than his actual performance.

The 29-year-old has recorded just 12 catches for 183 yards and one touchdown so far in 2024 and has totaled just four grabs in the last three games.

What’s worse, Ridley has been targeted 11 times in the last two weeks and has managed just three receptions in that span, all of which came in the Titans’ Week 7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Ridley managed 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and has two 1,000-yard campaigns under his belt, so it’s not like he hasn’t been productive in the past.

Things just aren’t going well for the veteran this year.
