‘One Piece’ manga announces new hiatus due to second live-action season

In addition to the 6-month break for the anime, ‘One Piece’ just announced a two-week break for the manga. And as always, Eiichiro Oda chose to do this on the eve of a big moment: Luffy’s meeting with Loki, the reincarnation of the Norse god, on the island of Elbaph. That’s why, chapter 1,131 will be postponed to November 10, 2024. But don’t worry, there is good news in between.

The reason for the pause is that Oda wants to be involved in the second season of the live-action film and wants to spend a few days supervising Netflix to make sure everything is going as smoothly as the first season. The author sets very high standards for all derivative products such as ‘One Piece Fan Letter’, the short film on Netflix and Crunchyroll celebrating the series’ 25th anniversarywhich was hailed as a work of art and the best anime special in history, rated even higher than the final chapter of ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’.

“ONE PIECE will be on hiatus during the 48th and 49th issues of Weekly Shonen Jump due to the author’s involvement in the 2nd season of the live-action version,” announced the series’ official account on its social networks.

The news comes as the manga begins the Elbaf arc and Luffy faces Loki in memorable panel. Furthermore, the bounties have just been updated and the new wanted posters are so exaggerated that the community has already taken to the streets with torches to hold Oda accountable.
