Barcelona could consider selling the defensive pillar if a good offer arrives

Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano left a bittersweet feeling in the Catalan camp.

Although the club has secured its place in second position, it appears that a few of its first-team stars have already played their last home game, at least as a Barca player.

One of those players could be Andreas Christensen, the former Chelsea defender who has impressed in a new role this season.

Is Christensen for sale?

According to Diario SPORT, FC Barcelona does not rule out the possibility of selling Christensen next summer.

The club are aware that the Dane joined the club on a free transfer, meaning a sale could see them make a substantial profit this summer.

Although Christensen has been of great use to Xavi Hernandez this summer, Barca should consider a sale if they receive a good offer for the player.

This follows fresh interest from Newcastle United, with the Premier League giants reportedly keen to acquire his services at the end of the season.

If not Christensen, then who?

Barcelona players are aware that there will be changes to the team this summer.

If Barcelona does not sell Christensen, the club will have to sanction the exits of other stars. Among the players who could leave the club are Raphinha while Marcos Alonso has already played his last home match for the club.

The likes of Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong have also been linked to exits, with both likely to fetch a significant valuation.

The coming summer therefore promises to be an important one, not only for Christensen but for many Barcelona players.
