5 Nigerian Air Force officers die in fatal road accident

FCT, Abuja – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) was left in mourning after five of its officers lost their lives in a horrific road accident.

The tragic incident occurred near Hawan Kibo along the Jos-Akwanga express road in Plateau State on Tuesday, October 22.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, revealed that the personnel were on their way to a sporting event in Abuja when they suffered the accident.

Akinboyewa said the NAF officers’ vehicle was involved in a collision with an oncoming truck.

He disclosed this in a statement issued via the official NAF X handle (formerly known as Twitter) @NigAirForce.

“Our personnel were heading to a sporting event in Abuja when their vehicle was involved in a collision with an oncoming truck.

“Consequently, legal administrative protocols applicable in circumstances such as this have been activated by the NAF to provide comfort and succor to the bereaved families.”

The NAF spokesperson appealed to Nigerians to refrain from sharing unverified details about the unfortunate incident.

About that, Legitimate.ng reported that an aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) had crashed in Kaduna state.

The training aircraft with two pilots on board reportedly crashed on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, during a training mission.

Although both pilots of the aircraft are feared dead, Nigerian Air Force authorities are yet to react to the incident.
