Bus accident in Uttarakhand: 22 people killed after bus falls into a gorge in Almora

At least 22 people were killed and several others injured on Monday, November 4, after a Garhwal Motors Users bus fell into a deep gorge in Almora district of Uttarakhand. The bus was traveling from Garhwal to Kumaon when an accident took place near Kupi in Ramnagar, on the Pauri-Almora border.

There were about 40 passengers on board when the bus fell into a 200 meter deep gorge. Police and SDRF personnel rushed to the spot and search and rescue operations are currently underway.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami went to X to express his grief over the loss of lives in the accident. “Received the very sad news about the passenger casualties in the unfortunate bus accident that occurred in Marchula district of Almora district. The district administration has been instructed to quickly carry out relief and rescue operations.”

“The local government and SDRF teams at the accident site are working quickly to evacuate the injured and take them to the nearest health center for treatment. Instructions have also been given to transport seriously injured passengers, if necessary,” Dhami wrote.
