This Charleston home is colorful and cozy – and has a dining room-turned-closet!

When she’s not starring on Bravo »Southern Charm“, Venita Aspen (@venitaaspen) transformed her historic Charleston home into a dream location with color-coded rooms. In this episode of ITK: Do you live here?the content creator invites us on an exclusive tour to show us where she lives with her dog, Charles.

First, Venita shows us her kitchen, which she says wasn’t as nice when she moved in as it is now. A fun and creative space, the kitchen features a banquet table, decorative wallpaper and a sleek, retro-style refrigerator. Venita’s favorite part of the room is the sink and work area, as she has always dreamed of having a deep sink that lends itself to arranging flowers and keeping the room clean.

Venita found a very non-traditional but important use for what was originally supposed to be the dining room of her home: a closet. She leads us into her “dining closet,” which includes built-in clothing racks and dressers, as well as a shelf dedicated to her Barbie collection. “When I moved in, I automatically knew this space was too small for me for anything else – too small for an office, too small for a dining room – and I started sketching out what a closet would look like “, she explains.

Venita then takes us into her bathroom. Decorated in a monochrome pink design, this bedroom is one of Venita’s favorites.

The next room on the tour is the bedroom, which includes both Venita’s bed and a dog bed for Charles – placed in a non-functional original fireplace. Along one wall is a large antique wooden dresser that Venita says is one of her favorite pieces. The room is decorated with abstract artwork, sculptural vases and patterned cushions.

Venita says she spends most of her time in her living room. Accessed from the bedroom via two wooden pocket doors, the living room is a large space decorated with blue walls, a blue sectional sofa, and plenty of blue accents, including a blue dog bed for Charles.

“When it came to designing the living room, that’s where I started, in the apartment,” says Venita. “This is my first time designing an apartment from start to finish, and it was very overwhelming, so I decided to stick to one color when it came to design.”
