John Stamos Releases Song for ‘Willy Wonka’ Musical Parody

Actor and musician John Stamos is known for lending his talents to bands like the Beach Boys, but now he’s heading in a very different direction. Stamos recorded a song for Willy’s Candy Spectacularan upcoming live musical that draws inspiration from a disastrous Willy Wonka-inspired event in Scotland earlier this year. He sings on a new track that the production released on Monday.

The event that inspired the musical made headlines after using lush AI-generated photos to lure customers into what it billed as an “immersive experience” that would transport Willy Wonka fans in a “magic kingdom”. In reality, this “immersive experience” took place in a rundown workshop in Glasgow, Scotland, so depressing that participants compared it to a meth lab.

This viral news inspired The Little Mermaid live producer Richard Kraft and his Kraft-Engel Productions, to transform this event into a musical parody.

The song featuring Stamos explores the end of the world, connecting it to the disastrous Wonka viral experiment.

“We love musicals with epic opening numbers. And we thought: what could be more epic than John Stamos singing about the end of humanity and connecting the demise of our species to a disappointing immersive experience in Scotland? » said songwriters Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, of ABC fame Once upon a time.

The parody musical features songs by Riki Lindhome, Tova Litvin, Doug Rockwell and Daniel Mertzlufft. It is scheduled to launch later this year, with a stage reading planned for the Edinburgh Fringe Fest in August.
