J&K terror attack: Shiv Sena demands cancellation of India-Pakistan match in T20 World Cup

Days after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking cancellation of a match between India and Pakistan in part of the ongoing T20 Cricket World Cup.

India won a Group A match against Pakistan on June 9 in New York. It is possible that the two teams could meet in the semi-final or final if they both advance.

In view of the terrorist attacks, Shiv Sena spokesperson Shiv Sena (UBT) said, “India should cancel the cricket match against Pakistan in view of the continuing violence. » The letter is also addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Some of the die-hard Shiv Sena activists had already dug up the Wankhede Stadium pitch before an India-Pakistan match.

Two days ago, a CRPF jawan was killed and six security personnel were injured in night-time encounters with terrorists in Kathua and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, nine lives were lost and 33 people were injured when terrorists struck a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. The terrorists opened fire on the vehicle which then fell into a gorge on Sunday evening.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba was believed to be behind the attack. J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had on June 10 announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for those injured in the terrorist attack in Reasi.
