Pessimistic outlook given to new running backs room

The Los Angeles Chargers signed a few running backs this offseason to give themselves a more dynamic approach to the position. They recruited Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins, both former Baltimore Ravens, to help the cause.

Both give the Bolts a boost of energy in the running back room, but there are some concerns with this group.

CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan classified the Chargers backroom as a “work in progress.” Los Angeles has work to do with the running backs, but they still need to improve in the health department.

The Chargers effectively adopted the Ravens backfield after signing Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins in free agency. Dobbins has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, including a torn Achilles last season. Meanwhile , Edwards is a solid guard but doesn’t have a huge ceiling.”

Both running backs they signed dealt with injuries throughout their careers, which gave the Chargers pause before the season started. For the Bolts to have a successful season, they will need both of these backs to stay as healthy as possible.

While health is important for any team, the Chargers have had some health issues over the years. This might be the year they can stay healthy, with hopefully the running backs leading the way.
