Meet ‘Scrappy’ the Possum, mascot of the Oakland Ballers

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — The Oakland Ballers have revealed their official mascot.

Meet “Scrappy” the possum!

It’s a clear nod to baseball at the Oakland Coliseum, where a possum first appeared at an A’s game in 2014.

Fans nicknamed him the “Rally Possum.” Since then, numerous sightings have been made, including an appearance in the press box.

After being introduced to Ballers fans at Raimondi Park this weekend, Scrappy took a few swings before the game.

With the Oakland Athletics set to leave Oakland, the Oakland Ballers hope to continue the tradition of professional baseball in the city.

Earlier in June, the new team played its home opener at Raimondi Park.
