Tom Brady discusses preparing for an NFL broadcasting career: ‘room for improvement’

Tom Brady, seven-time Super Bowl champion and arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, prepares to take the next step in his football career by joining play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt in the broadcast booth from Fox Sports this upcoming NFL season. .

In an interview Wednesday with Fox Sports pundit Colin Cowherd, Brady reflected on the progress he’s made so far on the mic.

“I would say yes (I’ve improved) and I would also say there’s still a lot of room for improvement,” Brady said. “It’s almost like when I was a player, I never felt like I was doing things the right way. There were games where I would come in afterwards and say, ‘Man, I’m the worst NFL quarterback.’ … I’m sure I’ll feel that way at Fox where I finish a game and I say, “I didn’t even give them what they wanted. That’s a very difficult thing in your own mind.”

“I asked a few people, ‘How do you know you’ve done a good job?’ For me, a lot of it will come down to preparation. Did I feel like we were prepared for the fans?

Brady became the highest-paid sportscaster in broadcast history when he signed a 10-year contract with Fox Sports worth $375 million in 2022. He will immediately become the network’s lead analyst, replacing Greg Olsen, who held this position. role over the past two years alongside Burkhardt.

Much like his playing career, high expectations surround Brady once he makes his official NFL debut in Week 1 for a game between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns.

“From my perspective, I’m going to work as hard as I can,” Brady said. “…I don’t want to let anyone down. I don’t want to let down the people at Fox here, and I certainly don’t want to let down the great NFL fans either.”
