Shocking video shows men with flags and ‘guns’ at popular spot as cops call

Weekend walkers were shocked to see men armed with flags and what appeared to be a machine gun climbing Roseberry Topping at lunchtime.

A video circulating on social media appears to show a group of men, one holding a large gun and others waving flags, including two that appear to be those of Eritrea.

It happened at a popular location on the Teesside and North Yorkshire border at 1pm on Sunday June 23.

Police were called by hikers in distress and discovered the gun was fake.

Officers confiscated the fake firearm and the men were given “counseling.”

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “At around 1pm today, Cleveland Police attended Roseberry Topping following reports of men suspected of being in possession of a weapon. Reportedly, a video showing the group has also been circulating online.
