Lottie Ryan keeps silent as she returns to airwaves following RTE 2FM ‘shock axe’ rumors

Lottie Ryan has remained silent over rumors she was fired from 2FM to bed down on Monday as she returned to the airwaves in her usual spot alongside David O’Reilly.

Rumors emerged on Monday morning that Lottie, the daughter of the late broadcasting legend Gerry Ryan, had been scandalously excluded from her driving slot – which she had just returned to last month following the shock departure of the 2 Johnnies from the station.

Although it could be the fourth shock departure in just under two months at the station, Lottie and David still appeared on air at their usual 3pm Monday afternoon slot.

It was business as usual for Lottie, who didn’t respond to any of the rumors over the past 12 hours, instead talking about the glorious weather in the country, with maximum temperatures of 25C in Dublin.

“It’s just 3:10 here on 2FM Drive with Lottie and David, you go home until 6, and it’s 25C,” Lottie said, while David said “Lottie, is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it was P!nk I could see from the Aviva’ — referring to the singer’s concerts at the Aviva Stadium this weekend.

The Irish Sun first reported that Lottie was reportedly left out of the driving time slot – with a source claiming on Monday morning that the rumored decision to let her go came just 24 hours before she and David had a photo shoot promoting the new niche. .

“She was then shocked when RTÉ issued a press release without consulting her and arranged a photo shoot with only 24 hours notice to feature her and co-presenter David O’Reilly as replacements for The 2 Johnnies,” said the source.

“There is a perception that it was just a manipulation to distract from Doireann Garrihy and the 2 Johnnies walking away from 2FM.”

TikTok star Kayleigh Trappe was going to be Lottie’s ‘replacement’ alongside David, but Lottie has also remained silent on social media – with her last Instagram post being selfies with her son in the background ago barely two weeks.

Lottie announced that she and David were replacing Johnnies B and Smacks on her Instagram in May, saying on her main feed: “Fasten your seat belts/buckle in/get ready to roll…how many more puns can I to propose ?! It’s “Drive with Lottie and David.” It all starts on @rte2fm Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
