Neighbor convinced his animals won’t escape is deeply shocked a week later

Karma caught up with a neighbor after a Reddit user unsuccessfully advised him to build a chicken coop to stop chickens from escaping his garden.

On the subreddit channel r/funny, Reddit user KarateKid1984 shared the flyer he found posted in the neighborhood of a missing chicken. Although nothing is funny about a missing animal and he feels bad for the chicken, the Redditor finds it ironic that the flyer was posted a week after he suggested building a chicken coop, which is beneficial in keeping these animals safe from weather, predators and escapes.

“Well, what happened was, initially I came down one morning and there was a chicken on the fence between his yard and mine,” he said. News week. “I’ve lived here 8 years and we have 8 foot fences. I’ve never seen more than one bird or one squirrel.
You can imagine that a full-grown chicken was a shock.”

Since the neighbor was new, the Redditor thought to go introduce himself and ask if the chickens had a coop, since they can escape easily.

“We’re not even allowed to have chickens here, but I thought it was pretty cool, so I was just there to help,” he added.

But this plan quickly backfired. The Redditor claimed in his June 12 post that the neighbor “yelled” at him and told him, “Chickens can’t fly or escape from his yard” and, as the flyer revealed, a chicken escaped.

The Reddit user noticed the missing chicken sign about a week after his interaction with the neighbor. Signs were posted in the street. The children eventually took down the flyers, but the neighbor continued to replace them.

He hasn’t seen the neighbor since the flyers were posted, but he heard him yelling at the other chicken which didn’t escape.

“(The chicken) was on his gazebo and he was telling him to come down,” the Redditor said. “He built him an enclosure which consisted of leaning wire mesh against the fence. Then he set up the tent. »

He thinks it’s a two-person tent, surrounded by hay. But in no time, the chicken made its way through.

Reactions from editors

The post quickly gained attention, reaching more than 18,000 upvotes and 1,500 comments as of Wednesday.

“He probably just crossed the road,” joked one viewer.

Another added: “I had the same conversation with my kids and two days later they did the coup… not my kids, though.”

A third person agreed: “Chickens are real escape artists. They may not fly very well, but they will definitely turbo boost to the top of a low wall.”
