Gear flying off shelves in second Chiefs locker room sale

Gear flying off shelves in second Chiefs locker room sale

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man’s dirty laundry is another man’s treasure, as Chiefs fans are marking the Chiefs Pro Shop’s locker room sale. This is the second year the Chiefs Pro Shop has held a sale outside Arrowhead Stadium.

Hundreds of Chiefs fans are leaving with special gear, some of which was worn by the back-to-back Super Bowl champions. Some of these fans waited in line for more than four hours to get into the Pavilion.

One fan said the wait was worth it because he got gear worn by Chiefs players. He arrived at 8:30 a.m., while others arrived at 4:15 a.m.

“I turned the corner and there were already about 300 people in line,” Chiefs fan Frank Tamburello said.

“I think I have 15 or 20 things here.”

After waiting in line for two hours, Bionica Jackson got the call to land inside the locker room sale. Like many others, she’s looking to cross a few gifts off her Christmas list.

“I’m going to look at T-shirts,” Jackson said.

“I’ll look at the shoes, they probably won’t be my size, but I might get something for my husband.”

Kevin Bayus, retail manager at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrow Market, said they saw 200 to 300 people before noon, with a line out the door. They have thousands of items on sale, he said, including practice and game jerseys, soccer balls, cleats and gloves.

“You can see it in the winning culture that’s here and it’s nice to give back to the fans with reasonably priced merchandise and you can see it in the enthusiasm of the fans that are here,” Bayus said.

While some pieces have seen the field, others have not been worn. Bayus said the jerseys belong to past and present players. They even sell compression pants for players and coaches, but they will cost you. We’ve seen a few belonging to Patrick Mahomes sell for $200 and Andy Ried sell for $100.

“It was on the field, I mean it could have been any player, but I mean it’s still nice to have something that was part of the Superbowl,” the Washington fan said. Chiefs Alex Otto.

Bayus said the first Chiefs fans were in line at 4:15 a.m.

Otto said next year he would arrive earlier. Still, he scored a hoodie.

“The hoodie was $25, like if you buy it in a store it usually costs $75 to $100,” Otto said.

“But I think it’s pretty cool to own a Chiefs collectible. »

“I wear the Chiefs jersey, the Chiefs,” said Connor Madden, 3.

Her mother, Mallory, came from Emporia for the sale. It was her 3-year-old son’s first time at Arrowhead. They got more than they bargained for, meeting KC Wolf while waiting in line.

“His room is decorated with Chiefs, he’s definitely destined to be a great Chiefs player,” Madden said.

Some Swift fans ditched the cardigan and had fun at the party. Tanner Hansult wore his Swift number 87 t-shirt while shopping for merch.

“I got a jersey that is neither Travis Kelce nor Mahomes,” Hansult said.

Organizers said they saw larger crowds than last year. By Friday afternoon, the equipment was almost gone.

The locker room sale scheduled for Saturday will be closed.
