Maintaining calm and composure is essential in the face of an onslaught from the opposition. However, that proved difficult for Kandy Falcons captain Wanindu Hasaranga, who lost his cool when Dimuth Karunaratne misjudged an incoming ball and let it run to the boundary for four.

Kandy Falcons captain Wanindu Hasaranga won the toss in their first outing this season as Colombo Strikers openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shevon Daniel came in to bat. The duo did not get off to a good start and were bowled out in the powerplay. However, a 78-run partnership between Sadeera Samarawickrama and Muhammad Waseem propelled them to 95/2 in eight overs. Amid their run-scoring streak, there was a moment in the 18th over when Hasaranga lost his cool to Dimuth Karunaratne, who missed an easy ball.

On the last ball of the 18th over, the Kandy captain bowled a short ball to Thisara Perera. The ball bounced around fourth stump and Perera gave himself some space to hit it over the bowler’s head. The shot was powerful and went past fielder Karunaratne, who misjudged its speed and let it go for a four. As the ball crossed the rope, Hasaranga exploded in fury, gesticulating animatedly at Karunaratne and berating him insistently to exercise better judgment on the field.

The incident quickly gained attention on the Twitterverse, with many people discussing the Hasaranga explosion.
