The lawyer representing the case has been suspended Georgia football wide receiver Colbie Young demands dismissal of the charges against him and reinstatement to the team after filing an affidavit with the prosecutor in the case and UGA that he said came from the female accuser.

The woman, Young’s ex-girlfriend, informed the law firm several times that she wanted the Oct. 8 charges of assault and battery on an unborn child dropped, according to attorney Kim Stephens, who provided the affidavit to the Athens Banner- Herald and other media has provided. outlets Wednesday evening. She first contacted the law firm on Oct. 14, she said.

“I have requested that the charges against Colbie Young be dismissed because the information in the police report is incorrect and does not accurately reflect what happened on October 8,” the woman said in the affidavit.

Stephens asks that the charges be dismissed and that Young, a transfer from Miami, be allowed to resume all team activities and play games. Young was suspended indefinitely a day after his arrest following a meeting with coach Kirby Smart.

Reached by the Athens Banner-Herald, Georgia Executive Athletic Director Steven Drummond reiterated what the school said after the arrest: “This is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Young has an arraignment in the case scheduled for Dec. 10 in State Court.

Athens-Clarke County Attorney Will Fleenor did not respond to a request for comment.

Stephens said the alleged victim contacted him and wanted to release a public statement because her requests for dismissal had gone unheeded.

Athens-Clarke County police arrested Young after the 20-year-old woman got into a “heated argument” at Young’s apartment where she had gone to talk about their relationship and heard he was on the phone with another woman.

The police incident report states that she said Young “grabbed her left arm by her biceps and triceps and physically pulled her out of his room. When a friend called her phone, Young grabbed her from behind and she told police he picked her up and began to squeeze her torso and abdomen very hard.”

Police said she had bruising and discoloration on the underside of her chest and redness on her right plank.

But in the Wednesday affidavit, the woman said: “Colbie did not lay hands on me in any way during the conversation and argument that was inappropriate or unwanted. He didn’t hit me. He didn’t push me. It didn’t cause any bruises or marks on me. He didn’t hurt me in any way. For the avoidance of doubt, Colbie Young has not committed any act of violence against me or my unborn child, including but not limited to simple battery or abuse of an unborn child.

Young has missed three games since his indefinite suspension. He had 11 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns this season.

Georgia has four regular season games remaining, including Saturday’s game against Ole Miss.
