Miami-based independent developer Adventure Works has announced Ari Buktu and the Elevator at Any Timea new puzzle and platform game inspired by 80s movies.

Ari Buktu and the Elevator at Any Time is in development for Windows PC (via Steam), although a release date has not been announced.

Professor Lionel Raventhorpe has just finished building an elevator time machine to travel back in time to important events in the past and retrieve a magical, priceless tiara that has been lost to history. You see, he thinks that by giving it to the love of his life, she will eventually fall in love with him. A foolish mission, but he is determined to find the tiara at all costs. In order to carry out this crazy plan, he is going to need a lot of help. That’s where you come in!

You’ll play as Ari Buktu, a high school student with a heart of gold who longs to return home. Climb and explore ancient ruins, solve mystical puzzles, and escape certain death at the hands of pirates, tomb raiders, and countless other threats, all punctuated by cinematics reminiscent of the visual gags and humor of classic adventure films.

As the plot twists and turns, you’ll acquire new skills and tools! Complement your runs and jumps with wall-climbing and grappling hook swings. Solve puzzles and use elements of the environment to your advantage in your quest for the diadem. Each level presents new challenges: one moment you’re breaking into the private chambers of a Mayan princess, the next you’re riding a roller coaster through a ruined Egyptian temple, moments before it collapses! Each challenge you overcome will reveal clues that will show you where the ancient diadem might be hiding in the cracks of history.
