Former actress and ex-girlfriend of Salman Khan, Somy Ali, has responded to the controversy surrounding her recent Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session, in which certain explosive statements were made regarding the deaths of Sushant Singh Rajput and Jiah Khan. In an Instagram post, Somy clarified her intentions behind the AMA and expressed her disappointment in the shift in focus from her advocacy work to these controversial claims.

Somy Ali sets the record straight: “The focus was on my NGO, not on the controversy”

Somy Ali’s main goal during her AMA was to promote her nonprofit organization No More Tears, which helps survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. She expressed her frustration at how her initiative was overshadowed by sensational comments attributed to her, especially about her past relationship with Salman Khan and comments on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

“I would like to take a moment to address the recent controversy surrounding a Reddit session that has gone viral,” Somy Ali said. “My purpose in participating in the session was solely to promote No More Tears, my NGO dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Unfortunately, some of the comments that Akshay Sharma, the vice president of No More Tears, made on my behalf regarding the deaths of Salman Khan and even Sushant Singh Rajput, without my knowledge or approval, have led to a wave of misinterpretations and distractions. Everyone knows that I can’t type that fast during a live session.”

Disappointment about shift in focus

The former actress, who left Bollywood decades ago, lamented that media attention was drifting away from the work of her organization, which she has passionately supported for more than 17 years. She explained, “I have no interest in discussing people from my past or anything other than the work we do at No More Tears. I agreed to the session to raise awareness of my NGO’s mission, not to create controversy.”

Restriction of future media interactions

Somy Ali expressed her frustration over the way media interviews often focus on her past relationships, especially with Salman Khan, for the sake of higher TRPs. Reflecting on her future involvement with the media, she said, “I am no longer interested in doing zoom video interviews where they only ask for Salman to increase the TRP of their news shows. Going forward, I will limit my media interactions to ensure the focus remains on No More Tears.”

After living a quiet life for fourteen years, Somy only started engaging with the media again three years ago to raise awareness about her work with No More Tears. Despite the personal trolling she encounters, she remains committed to her cause. “This exposure has helped build support for the organization, and I am deeply grateful for those who have joined our mission,” she explained.

Somy’s call to action: focus on ending abuse

Somy Ali concluded her message by calling on people to join her fight against all forms of abuse. She referred to the words of late actor Rajesh Khanna and quoted, “Zindagi bahut khoobsurat hai, jeene ka salika aana chahiye” (Life is very beautiful; you should know how to live it). Somy reiterated that its mission is to create a world where everyone can live with dignity and respect, regardless of their background.

Alleged statements about Sushant Singh Rajput and Jiah Khan

During her Reddit AMA, Somy is said to have made strong claims about some of the dark controversies in Bollywood, generating significant public interest. These include claims that Sushant Singh Rajput did not die by suicide but was murdered, as well as statements suggesting that Jiah Khan was pregnant at the time of her death. Moreover, she reportedly claimed that actor Suraj Pancholi had consulted Salman Khan over Jiah’s death and made critical comments about her former friend, comparing him to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and saying that Salman is ‘even worse’.
