Saratoga Springs, New York — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will present several events in July to coincide with the opening of the Saratoga Race Course Summer Meeting, which begins Thursday. Additionally, the museum will present special exhibits celebrating the legacies of Hall of Famers Paul Mellon and Ruffian this summer. Both exhibits will open to the public on Thursday, July 11. Saturday, July 13 – Saturday Morning Social, presented by the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation
The museum will offer free admission from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. through sponsorship by the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation. There will be complimentary coffee and donuts courtesy of Stewart’s Shops and water courtesy of Saratoga Spring Water. The morning program will include a book signing by Patricia McQueen, author of The Secretariat’s LegacyThere will also be a seminar on disability hosted by Tom Amello of Trackfacts and a screening of the documentary film Mill Reef: Legacy of the Heart. Time: 9am to 11am Cost: Free entry, books and products available for purchase.


Tuesday July 16 – Quiz night on ThoroFan Racing
The museum will partner with ThoroFan for a racing trivia night. Participants can compete individually or in teams (up to four people) for great prizes. The event is sponsored by Saratoga Spring Water and Saratoga Eagle. For more information, visit thorofan.com. Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cost: $15 for museum members, $25 for non-members.


Saturday July 20Saturday Morning Social, presented by the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and the New York Thoroughbred Breeders
The museum will offer free admission from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., thanks to sponsorship from the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and the New York Thoroughbred Breeders. Complimentary coffee and donuts will be provided by Stewart’s Shops and water will be provided by Saratoga Spring Water. Morning activities will include a celebration of the museum’s 150th anniversary.th anniversary of the birth of Hall of Fame trainer James “Sunny Jim” Fitzsimmons and a demonstration by the Saratoga Clay Arts group. There will also be a seminar on disability led by Tom Amello of Trackfacts and a screening of the documentary film Mill Reef: Legacy of the Heart. Time: 9am to 11am Cost: FREE ENTRANCE.


Saturday July 20Old Friends at Cabin Creek Farm Tour
Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the local Old Friends at Cabin Creek Thoroughbred Farm, renowned for its racehorses. An experienced guide will give you a comprehensive overview of the farm’s operations. Then, we’ll give you the chance to meet the farm’s retired equine athletes, getting up close and personal with real thoroughbred racehorses. Finally, at the end of the tour, guests will have the opportunity to ask their guide any questions they may have about the care and maintenance of these magnificent animals. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for this tour. This tour takes place at Old Friends at Cabin Creek and includes complimentary admission to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Saturday July 27 – Racing and Rosé fashion show
Join us for a fashion show and brunch at the museum featuring racing-inspired creations by Jen Marcellus of Miss Scarlett Boutique. The Garden Party ticket includes early arrival at 10:30am and a pre-party in the beautiful, newly renovated Pleasure East Garden with Old Tavern Farm Flowers and Winery (Garden Party tickets are SOLD OUT!). The main event begins at 11am – sip champagne and rosé from 90+ Cellars, nibble on light fare courtesy of PDT Catering, and explore the museum’s sculpture gallery. Around noon, Jen Marcellus’ racing-inspired fashions will take center stage, while ladies from Saratoga and the racing world will present a one-of-a-kind fashion show in the sculpture gallery.
