The Takoma Park Police Department Criminal Investigation Division continues to actively investigate a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at approximately 11:05 a.m.

According to the latest press release on Monday, July 8, 2024, “Victim Nurhusen Hamid (pictured below) was working as a mobile mechanic in the parking lot of Advanced Auto Parts located at 6300 New Hampshire Avenue, Takoma Park, Montgomery County, Maryland. An unknown suspect approached the victim and fired shots at him, striking him. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect fled the parking lot on foot on Eastern Avenue and got into a waiting white SUV, then fled the area toward the District of Columbia on New Hampshire Avenue.
