Thiago breaks silence with emotional retirement message as hint about his next job drops

Former Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has responded to his decision to retire from football with an emotional message on social media.

Just days after his contract at Anfield ended, the Spaniard announced he would be hanging up his boots at the age of 33. The move comes after an injury-plagued 2023/24 season in which he played just five minutes of football.

Thiago has now taken to social media to send a message to fans. The midfielder also appears keen to continue working in football in the future.

He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “I will always be willing to give back what I have been given and I am grateful for the time I have enjoyed it.

“Thanks to football. And to all those who have accompanied me and allowed me to become a better player and a better person. See you soon, Thiago.”

The post was published alongside four photos showing him playing for Barcelona, Spain, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
