New York Times bestselling author Lisa See stops in Bend to discuss her latest book, “Lady Tan’s Circle of Women.”

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — More than 400 people were at the Westside Community Center in Bend Monday night to hear New York Times bestselling author Lisa See talk about her latest book Lady Tan’s Circle of Women.

“It’s based on the story of a real woman, Yunxian, who was a doctor in China in the 1400s, 500 years ago, and when she was 50, she wrote a book about her medical cases, and that book is still in print today, not only in Chinese, but also in English, and the reason is because many of her remedies are still used in traditional Chinese medicine today,” See said.

Many people lined up eagerly to meet Lisa See, take a photo and get a signed copy of her latest creation.

See says the books she writes are actually a reflection of her own culture and history.

See said: “When I was a child and I looked around, what I saw were Chinese faces, what I experienced was Chinese culture, Chinese tradition, Chinese language, Chinese cuisine, and that’s why I write the kind of books that I write.”
