Nelly Furtado wants to collaborate with Taylor Swift: “I have a song”

Nelly Furtado just revealed that she has an idea for a collaboration with Taylor Swift that will undoubtedly have many fans asking her to “Give It to Me.”

But before anyone gets too excited, the 45-year-old singer-songwriter clarified that the Anti-Hero musician hasn’t even heard the pitch yet, though she has an idea for how she can make it happen. “I have a song for Taylor,” Furtado said in an interview with Additional Thursday (July 11) before highlighting his connection to Swift’s boyfriend. “Dom Dolla produced it… I think Dom is friends with Travis (Kelce), so let’s get it out. We want Taylor on it!”

The Swift topic first came up when Furtado was asked about a viral moment from last year’s VMAs. In a clip from the awards show posted to her TikTok, Swift gushes about how she “just screamed” Furtado’s 2001 hit “I’m Like a Bird.”

“Versatility, man, you can do anything!” the 34-year-old pop star added at the time, to which Furtado responded, “Every time you write another amazing song, I’m like, ‘She did it again!’”

Reflecting on the moment, the “Promiscuous Girl” musician told the outlet, “It’s a little surreal for me.”

“I take long breaks from music, and sometimes I feel like a music therapist stuck in a pop star’s body,” she added. “And I meet other artists and they like my music, like Taylor Swift. It’s like, ‘Oh, damn, this is cool. Oh really? You were singing my song at a party? This is amazing.’”

The interview was conducted a day before the release of Furtado’s new single, “Corazón,” featuring Bomba Estéreo. The track followed March’s “Gala y Dalí” featuring Juanes and May’s “Love Bites” featuring Tove Lo and SG Lewis.

Meanwhile, Swift remained atop the Billboard 200 for nearly three months after its release. The Department of Tortured Poets in April.
