Police said the money came from a crime.

“Organised crime groups are motivated by greed and seek to hide their ill-gotten wealth from the authorities,” Acting Superintendent Mary Bolton said.

“It is essential to remove the profits of crime to disrupt organized criminal activity and cause maximum damage to the criminal environment.

“The AFP (Australian Federal Police) has assured that this money will not be used to finance other criminal activities.”

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
