Dirac Brings Dirac Live Room Correction to Select Bluesound Devices

The integration will bring room correction capabilities to select Bluesound devices with the purchase of a microphone accessory kit and license

Swedish digital audio company Dirac has announced a collaboration with Bluesound, integrating Dirac Live Room Correction into select Bluesound multi-room streaming devices.

“The ways consumers listen to music at home are evolving. While dedicated listening rooms were once the norm, the entire home is now the listening space: living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, basements, etc.,” said Fredric Tapper, vice president of home and professional audio at Dirac. “However, this expanded definition of the listening space has created new challenges for high-fidelity audio reproduction, as outdoor spaces with dynamic room sizes and dimensions can have a significant impact on sound quality. This groundbreaking collaboration with Bluesound solves these challenges by delivering high-fidelity audio to any room or listening space, no matter how complex.”

Dirac Live uses patented software to address common acoustic challenges present in all home audio systems. The software is unique in that it corrects both the amplitude and phase of the entire sound system, including the room itself.

Future Bluesound devices will be ready to handle Dirac Live once a Dirac Live license has been purchased on the Dirac website. Backwards compatibility with existing Bluesound devices is also under consideration and rollout plans for eligible models will be communicated at a later date. A calibration kit will be available for purchase on the Bluesound.com website when the first compatible Bluesound player becomes available.
