Antonio Pierce ready for first training camp as Raiders head coach

Antonio Pierce ready for first training camp as Raiders head coach

The Las Vegas Raiders are set to open their season next week. For the first time since moving to Las Vegas, the Raiders will hold their training camp outside of the state of Nevada. This year, the Raiders will be in Costa Mesa, California.

This will also be Antonio Pierce’s first full training camp as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. New head coach Pierce will have a lot of work to do. He will have to find the quarterback for the Raiders, trim the roster to 53 men and prepare his team to have a successful upcoming season. Head coach Antonio Pierce is ready for anything. He has attended many training camps as a player, but now he is ready for his first as a head coach.

Our Hondo S. Carpenter Sr. spoke about head coach Antonio Pierce heading into training camp on a recent episode of the “Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast.”

“What he (Antonio Pierce) does, he goes out and he puts somebody in charge of red flags… Now he’s got a guy whose only job is game management. He’s got a lot of stuff to do, so let me put somebody in my ear to help me with game management. It’s brilliant,” Carpenter Sr. said.

“Then he goes out and looks at how he built his team. He built it with a group of guys who are extremely likeable. He wanted people who were open, willing and needed relationships… AP surrounds himself with people who generally care about him and aren’t afraid to shut him down and say what he’s doing. That’s a mistake. That’s maturity. That’s why he’s been so successful,” Carpenter Sr. said.

“I want to see how he continues to grow… By the time he gets to the last two or three games of the season, and throughout the offseason, he’s a different guy. He’s taking a lot of notes. He’s spending a lot of time at each spot. He’s learning how to be a CEO… I remember him watching the quarterbacks and just him, not trying to do the drill… When he adds something, it’s to reaffirm what the coaches have said… I’ve been more surprised by AP’s development than anything that’s happened this offseason,” Carpenter Sr. said.
