STRICTLY star Sarah Hadland’s celebrity pal Alex Kingston once revealed the star was a “trained dancer” amid trumped-up allegations.

Doctor Who actress Alex, 61, previously said it would be “unfair” to compete against Sarah on the BBC dance show because of her ballet background.

Miranda star Sarah, 53, best known for her role as Stevie Sutton in the beloved BBC sitcom, is set to compete with Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri, who also trained in contemporary dance.

Alex shared in 2019: “Sarah Hadland and I talked about wanting to do Strictly Come Dancing.

“Then I found out she was actually a trained ballet dancer.

“Wait a minute! That’s not fair!” So I can’t do it during a season when she’s in good shape!

“It’s also a huge commitment and, as an actor, you never know if you’ll be available during that time or if it means you’re missing out on the possibility of acting work.”

This comes after reality TV star Tasha, who made history As Love Island’s first deaf contestant, she was forced to defend her position on the show.

She told Kiss FM this morning: “I haven’t danced for a few years, since Love Island, my career is so different.

“It’s such a different style of dance, maybe I’m not good at it, like ballet – I’m not good at ballet.

“I am trained in commercial street style, it will be very hard but I am looking forward to this challenge.”

TV star Sarah has starred in countless other shows including The Job Lot, Waterloo Road and That Mitchell and Webb Look.

She even appeared in James Bond 2008 movie Quantum of comfort and will following appears on BBC Three comedy Father related issues.

If Miranda ever returns to the screen, Sarah will definitely be there.

She had already told us: “I talk to Miranda’s casting all the time.

“I feel lucky to have done a job that gave me a good friend for life.

“I would love to do another series, but it’s up to Miranda because she’s the one writing the series. Never say never!”

The Sun on Sunday revealed that Strictly bosses signed blind comedian Chris McCausland last month.

He will be joined by EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles, former Towie player Pete Wicks and British Olympic swimmer Tom Dean.

Football favourite Paul Merson, singer and film star Toyah Wilcox, the Great Britain team hockey Gamer Sam Quek, X Factor and Corrie legend Shayne Ward and JLS GB star Gill take to the dance floor.

Welsh opera Singer Wynne Evans is also on the bill, alongside TV doctor Punam Krishan, Gladiators star Montell Douglas and actress Sarah Hadland.
