Billionaires and business leaders endorse Kamala Harris

She has already received a wave of influential political endorsements, including the support of President Joe Biden. Within 24 hours of Biden dropping his reelection bid, Harris had got enough delegates for the appointment.

Money has also poured into her campaign. She broke the record for the largest single-day fundraiser, raising $81 million as of this writing.

Harris also held a fundraiser in San Francisco on Sunday that drew big names in business and raised $13 million, The New York Times reported. It was also an opportunity for her to repair what has sometimes been a strained relationship between the tech community and President Joe Biden.

Besides Silicon Valley moguls, Harris has also received support from business leaders and billionaires. Here are some of those who want to see Harris become president.

Sheryl Sandberg

Former Meta and Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg endorsed Harris for president in July on social media.

In an Instagram post, Sandberg said she was excited to support the vice president.

“@kamalaharris has already made history once by becoming the first Black and South Asian woman to hold this position, and she will do so again in November,” Sandberg wrote.

“She is an accomplished leader, a staunch defender of abortion rights, and the strongest candidate to lead our country forward,” she added.

Roseau Hastings

Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings is supporting Harris’ presidential bid with a $7 million donation.

He told The Information it was the largest donation he has made to a single candidate.

Hastings did not immediately endorse Harris after Biden ended his campaign and endorsed his vice president. Shortly after Biden’s announcement Sunday, he posted on X: “Democratic delegates need to pick a winner in a key state.”

Ron Conway

Silicon Valley super angel investor Ron Conway also endorsed Harris’ presidential bid.

In a X In his message, Conway called her a “fighter, leader and advocate for the tech ecosystem.”

“The tech community must come together to defeat Donald Trump and save our democracy by uniting behind Vice President @KamalaHarris as the Democratic nominee for president,” he said.

George Soros and Alex Soros

Alex Soros, the son of the legendary investor George Soros and head of Soros Fund Management, also called on Democrats to rally around Harris.

“It is time for all of us to unite around Kamala Harris and defeat Donald Trump,” he wrote in July. on X“She is the best and most qualified candidate we have. Long live the American dream!”

A spokesman for George Soros told the Wall Street Journal that he also supported Harris.

Melinda French Gates, billionaire philanthropist and ex-wife of Bill Gates, publicly endorsed Harris in late July.

She said in a X post: “I am proud to support Vice President Harris. During her years in the White House, she has proven that she knows how to navigate crises while pushing for the change we need.”

Reid Hoffman

Hoffman is reportedly considering hosting or co-hosting a fundraiser for Harris as early as September.

LinkedIn co-founder and PayPal mobster Reid Hoffman has joined the ranks of pro-Harris business leaders.

In a message posted on X, he said: “The Biden-Harris administration has put this country on the right path. It is time for us to come together. I wholeheartedly support Kamala Harris and her candidacy for President of the United States in our fight for democracy in November.”

Hoffman also plans to host or co-host a fundraiser for Harris, “as early as September,” The Information reported, citing a person close to him.

He was also chairman of Harris’ Sunday fundraising event in San Francisco, the NYT reported.

The Obamas waited a while before endorsing Harris.

Barack Obama officially endorsed Harris in a message published in late July.

The former president and his wife waited some time to endorse Harris, even as many other prominent Democrats moved in that direction.

In a message shared on social media, Barack Obama said: “Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her that we think she would make a fantastic president of the United States and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we are going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you will join us.”

After leaving the White House, the Obamas demonstrated their media savvy by starting their own company. They proved their business credentials by signing a lucrative contract production deal with Netflix and get a podcast deal with Audible supported by Amazon.

The couple also earns money from their bestselling books, which has significantly increased their net worth.

Tom Steyer

Billionaire investor and climate activist Tom Steyer also publicly endorsed Harris in late July.

In a message posted on X, Steyer wrote: “I have known Vice President Harris for over 15 years and have watched her defend the rule of law, advance true freedom, and deliver hard-fought results.”

John Doerr

John Doerr, a technology investor and chairman of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, was one of the chairmen at Harris’ Silicon Valley fundraiser on Sunday.

Doerr, an early supporter of Harris, has also supported several of her previous campaigns. He has been raising money to support her presidential bid in the 2020 election, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Media mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg has publicly endorsed Harris.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, former chairman of Walt Disney Studios, was also seen at Sunday’s fundraiser in San Francisco. The media executive, who was a national co-chair of Biden’s campaign, praised Biden for his “selfless” decision to withdraw from the presidential race and endorsed Harris in a New York Times op-ed.

“She has been underestimated time and time again,” Katzenberg wrote. “She has triumphed time and time again.”

“The vice president has won almost every election she’s ever run for. She’s spent her entire life winning,” he added. “I couldn’t be more confident that this November will be no different.”

Steve Spinner

Angel investor Steve Spinner, who previously served as a fundraiser for former President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, also endorsed Harris and more than 350 other former national security leaders in an open letter.

At Harris’ fundraiser Sunday, Spinner said the positive reception Harris received reminded him of Obama’s 2007 fundraising event, The New York Times reported.

“There was a lot of love in that room,” he reportedly said.
